Gotta Watch The Credits Though

Boy I seem to be finding a bit of my old music lately. It’s kinda weird to listen to these songs and go back to old flats/jobs/friends who were there when I first listened to them. Here is this weeks “The End” themed song. Another bang up job by Cake, off their album Pressure Chief. Melancholy yet uplifting at the same time.

In A Round About Way

I thought for this week’s circular tune I’d pull one out of the early days hat. It’s surprisingly tricky to pick a favourite song from this album as they’re all pretty great in their own ways. It’s surprisingly still a pretty great album (if you ask me anyway), got some Tool-esque elements and the instrumentation in it is awesome, I’m looking at the drummer in particular. Hard to believe this came out back in 2004, I spent a long time waiting for a follow up album though sad to say one of the main guys in it died a couple years back, so follow up album is extremely unlikely now.

Living Up To Their Name

I’m doing a bit of monotonous work at the moment which means listening to a variety of metal from the old days. This has always been one of my favourite songs by In Flames, and remains as satisfying for me now as it was 10 years ago. The one thing that always made me feel strange about this band was that the lead singer bears an uncanny resemblance to Roy from the IT Crowd. That’s a weird combination. It’s such a typical metal video, kinda funny to watch it again.
