Cornucopia Fax

I like learning something new. Today I learnt that the drummer from Bon Iver does some solo stuff under his moniker S. Carey. Trivia!  This is off his 2014 album Range Of Light.

S. Carey – Neverending Fountain

How Do You Sleep?

This is a band which has been with me off and on for the past ten years. Their earlier stuff was pretty varied, bit of pop punk/alternative rock with a splash of metal thrown in the mix. Over the years they seem to have gotten darker and heavier which is fine with me. Case in point, this song off their 2014 album Heavy Fruit, which definitely takes a turn for the brutal (sadly I think it gets a bit distorted on this stream).

He Is Legend – I Sleep Just Fine

Well They Do Seem Certain

Here you go chap. An ambient song with an unarguable tie to ‘Tide’. This is the last track off ASC‘s 2014 album, Truth Be Told. This is mellow stuff but full of sounds and noises and mischievous pieces of familiarity in there. Definitely a headphone listen. Think Circular blended with The Flashbulb, with just a splash of Loscil for good measure.

ASC – The Certainty Of Tides

Unusually So

While I sip on my coffee and wait for my brain to get into gear, I thought today I’d put my song up, which consists of electronic, piano and double bass. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the mad ‘mechatronic’ electronic notes against the fluid piano. It seems to balances industrial sound against organic, at least for the first part, then it sort of descends into chaos.

Wesseltoft, Schwarz, Berglund – Headbanger Polka

WTF

If yesterdays Halloween tune wasn’t sufficient to unsettle you, well just maybe this will finish the job. This is one of those things that one might fortuitously stumble upon and then spend some time questioning the decisions that have led them to this point in their life. Everything about this is just bizzaro, and I can’t say I like the music but the sheer logistics of his getup are impressive to say the least. Case in point:

“The face can be sequenced or I can hold a button on the mic and then in real time control the x/y position of the face through an accelerometer in the suit, so the face copies my hand gesture. At the same time, this is happening the same input signal can alter my voice, i.e., I move my hand up, the face moves up and so to the pitch of my voice.”

You can read a chunky interview here to gain a greater appreciation of this guy.

Anklepants – ???

Ain’t No Theme

Apologies for the lack of posting yesterday, I was whisked off and put to slave labour for a few days. I’ve just returned and what better way to distance myself from burning sunlight and shovel loads of dirt than with this seriously chill album. Makes for a very relaxed listening experience.
