Collect Call Computer

Today we have a song from the Danish band Lowly‘s new album Heba. They’ve struck a pleasant balance of dreamy upbeat indie rock, which has a bit of a dark edge to its lyrics. Yay! This is reminding me somewhat of Warpaint‘s self titled album, while the vocals give me flashes of Edie Brickell. All things good.

I like learning something new. Today I learnt that the drummer from Bon Iver does some solo stuff under his moniker S. Carey. Trivia!  This is off his 2014 album Range Of Light.

A Bit Like But Like

This song is giving me flashes of a whole bunch of different artists and it’s bugging the crap out of me, maybe a bit of a Nick Murphy crossed with Arthur Russell vibe? Yeh that’s pretty obscure… I don’t know James Vincent McMorrow but this is a pretty nice track I gotta say. Off his 2016 album, We Move.

Not A Good Start

Well this is not a good start for summer, only one week in and I’ve just received a solid and respectable burn from Mr Sun. Great. So here is a soothing indie number to help relieve the heat. It’s Islands, who earlier this year released two albums. Most respectable Islands, well done.

Islands – Sun Conure

Down The Rabbit Hole

Today I spent a few hours listening to the album II by Moderat, which, as you might guess, is the precursor to their latest album III. If you blended a bit Ratatat‘s vibe with a slightly more grounded Kiasmos, and threw some vocals in the mix for good measure, that would be a reasonable approximation to my ears. Must say I’m rather enjoying these guys. And you know, they seem to do cool videos on the whole so that’s certainly a bonus too.

Moderat – Bad Kingdom

Take The Hard Right

Here’s the new song by Bon Iver, off of the upcoming album 22, A Million. If this song is any indication of what to expect, well, it’s expect something quite different to the last couple albums. The less said the better. Have a listen:
